There are a few places available for Sheffield CTC members to join our friends from Chesterfield Spire at excellent value at an Oxfordshire Youth Hostel. We have received the following invitation from Tony Adams.
In 2017, I did a short cycle tour of the South Downs staying at Oxford and Streetley on Thames youth hostels. I was so impressed with this superb cycling area that I am returning with my club (Chesterfield Spire) for a fixed base holiday at Streetley On Thames hostel.
Streetley is about 20 miles south of Oxford and is ideally situated to explore the wonderful quiet lanes of Oxfordshire and Berkshire. With a couple of hills which are in the 100 best climbs guide, and the vale of the White Horse plus the famous Ridgeway bridleway this is a great area to explore. For anyone interested, we have sole use of the hostel.It has 49 beds, but the warden has offered exclusive use if the hostel is half full. With breakfast and dinner the total is £33 a day.
The tour starts from saturday27th May until friday2nd June. Another option that some riders are doing is that as the dates include the bank holiday monday they are attending for a long weekend over 3 days.
