The spring touring weekend will be to the Garden House, an idependent hostel in Stamford, Lincolnshire and will run from Friday 8 May to Tueday 12 May (4 nights). The cost is £180* – essentially £160 for accomodation and £20 towards food (4 breakfasts, 2 evening meals, tea, coffee and snackarama).
We appreciate that this is slightly more expensive than recent trips, but the Garden House has 21 ensuite rooms, so couples will get a room for their exclusive use and the occupancy of the other rooms is likely to be low. A room for guaranteed sole occupancy can be had for a small additional payment.
There are a number of options for getting there:
-joining a group riding from Meadowhead, 118km, 1000m ascent
-joining a group from Nottingham Station, 66km, 600m ascent (Nottingham is served by Northern Rail, so no bike reservations required)
-getting the train to Grantham and riding self supported, 37km, 300m ascent (Direct East Midlands service, bike reservation required)
-getting the train to Stamford (indirect, bike reservations required)
Day rides include to Rutland water, to the unique three sided bridge at Crowland and to John Clare’s house at Helpston.
The bank details have not changed, so if you know them please transfer the fee (ideally with a reference Stam+your initials, eg StamGD) and then email sheffieldctc.treasurer@gmail.com and garethdent@gmail.com to let us know. Your booking is confirmed when we get the dosh.
If you don’t know the bank details please email Heike at the treasurer email address above and she will let you know.
The Garden House is near the town centre, so plenty of choice of pubs etc (Including a Wetherspoons). Details of the accomodation here: https://stamford.holiday/garden-house/
*The occasional touring weekends are run on a not for profit basis. Any loss is subsidised by the club from Audax surpluses. You will not be asked to pay more if we do not fill the hostel. We consider refunds if you cannot attend, but this is not guaranteed.
