Through Hillsborough Park onto Herries Road and towards Parson Cross, cutting across onto the NCN67 towards Grenoside. On towards Wortley but dropping down Finkle Street towards a slow and steady 11% climb up to Green Moor. Across the top towards Langsett with a cafe stop at 15 miles at the Spotty Cafe. After lunch head towards Upper Midhope, Midhopestones, into Stocksbridge on the Little Don Cycleway Link and Upper Don Trail through to Deepcar and down by road to Oughtibridge then Beeley Woods finishing up in Hillsborough Park. Distance 27 miles (45km), Ascent 634m

Hassop Station (Grade 2)

 A Grade 2 ride which incorporates the Eastern Moors, Longstone Edge and a spectacular descent through Stony Middleton. We start by climbing up to Holmsfield and then dropping down to Cowley. We then climb up and across the Eastern Moors before descending to Baslow. From there we climb up to  Pilsey before arriving at the Hassop Station Café. The return takes through Great Longstone and a significant climb up to Longstone Edge. We drop down towards the A623, but just before the main road we turn off to climb through a series of small lanes that end with the very steep descent through Stoney Middleton with spectacular views of the village with the Derwent valley as the backdrop. The return to Sheffield is through Grindleford and the climb alongside Padley Gorge.  38 miles 3,500 ft Ascent.

Elsecar Heritage Centre (Grade 1)

A mix of road and traffic free trails will take us to our café stop at Elsecar Heritage Centre. Approximately 26 miles to be taken at a gentle pace with regular regrouping, would advise 28C tyres as some trail sections may be a bit muddy. Heading out through Parsons Cross to the Blackburn Valley Trail, then onwards to Thorpe Hesley, Wentworth and Elsecar Heritage Ctr. for our café stop. Our return home will take us through Scholes to eventually rejoining the Blackburn Valley Trail and onto Five Weirs Way, Kelham and finally Hillsborough.

Liquorice Garden via Cresswell and Clumber (Grade 2)

My route takes us out of Meadowhall on "The Secret Road" otherwise known as Blackburn Meadows Way, through Brinsworth, Treeton and Aston. A few hundred metres along the A57 bike path before heading to Todwick and Harthill. We will have a quick comfort break at Cresswell Craggs Visitors Centre before continuing through Clumber to Worksop. 
We will return more directly past Netherthorpe Airfield and Brampton Straight Mile and on to Ulley.
Lunch will be at 28 miles at the Liquorice Garden (Wetherspoons). The return leg is much shorter and the route is pretty flat by CTC standards with a total of only 750 metres climbing to make up for a slightly longer distance.

We will head out into the Peak District via Surprise View and Hathersage, soon passing through Hope before our arrival in Castleton. There, we will have time to take a good look around and choose somewhere to eat from a wide choice. Having enjoyed both exploration and food, we will continue our sociable pace on the more challenging route back to the start. For those seeking less climbing, we will pass by Hope railway station from which there is a reliable train service back to Sheffield. Please bring lights for additional visibility, a bicycle lock and an extra layer. Approx 24 miles with almost 600 metres of ascent all taken at a steady pace with frequent re-grouping.

We continue up Ringinglow road away from Sheffield going around Stanage Edge and Robin Hood's cave to descend down to Bamford Edge below Ladybower Reservoir. A little hill to pass Thornhill and Aston and onto the main road from Hope. We then head back along the main road to the Pools Cafe in Hathersage. After enjoying a sociable time in the cafe we continue along the main road to Fox House and then down to Millhouses Park. Please bring warm clothing/ layers and waterproofs. Also I would politely ask, please don't use flashing lights within the group out of respect for others. 23 miles (36 km) 1,657ft (505m) of ascent.

A climb up Loxley road takes out into the Loxley valley and on to Bradfield. Here we start the only significant climb of the route up Blindside and Sugworth Road to the junction with Mortimer Road. We circle around the head of the Loxley Valley with extensive views of the Strines and Dale Dike Reservoirs and back towards Sheffield. We eventually turn off Mortimer Road onto Agden Side Road. A climb takes us up to Penistone Road and one last short climb before descending through High Bradfield and along the side of Damflask reservoir to the Garden Centre cafe. 20.6 miles 1700ft ascent

This is a very steady Grade 1 type ride but for some extra climbing making it an easier short G2. Out to the Quackers cafe on the Thornbridge Estate. Meeting at the Norfolk Arms pub in Ringinglow (parking available opposite), we will head out to Owler Bar and down to Baslow. The pace will be relaxed and we will re-group frequently. We will soon be cycling along the Monsal Trail for a short out and back trail route to the delightful Quackers cafe for a leisurely break. Our return is via Grindleford which offers a train option back to Sheffield. We then continue up to Fox House and back to the Norfolk Arms. Please bring lights, a lock for the cafe stop and an extra layer just in case. 28 Miles and 700m ascent.

Heading out along the Rivelin Valley, our first climb will take us up the Rails Rd heading towards Rod Side and eventually descending to Lady Bower Reservoir. After Yorkshire Bridge we will head on to Thornhill, Bradwell and then climb up to enjoy some quiet lanes to Tideswell and our café stop nearby at Beltonville Farm. Our return to Sheffield will be via Bretton
ridge, descending down Sir William Hill, through Leam onto Hathersage and home via Ringinglow.
This ride is approximately 43 miles with 3,925 ft of ascent.

My ride takes us into Clumber via Cresswell Crags where after 20 miles, we will have a standing stop at the Visitor Centre.
We will then head over to the Liquorice Garden Wetherspoons for Lunch at 30 miles. We will take our bikes through the pub into the secure beer garden.
The route back is shorter, and total distance starting and finishing at Meadowhall is 50 miles (80km) with around 2,500 ft (766m) of climbing, which is flat by CTC standards.

Silkstone Common/Old Stables (Grade 2)

Courtside Cafe in Hillsborough for a change, but also to attempt to reduce the Park Run weaving. Taking the A61 cycle path towards Herries Road, through Parson Cross up to Grenoside, where we will deviate from the Sheffield CTC groove in the road to Wortley by entering Greno Woods on the newly re-surfaced NCN 67 route taking us towards Burncross. We’ll snake through High Green to keep off the busy road, head towards Howden, Stainborough and onto the flat NCN 62 railway line for a cafe stop at The Old Stables Coffee Shop (nice cakes) at 14 miles. From here we head to Hood Green on the toughest section of climb, 14.2%  but short and such a beautiful area you will never notice you are climbing. I believe this is part of the area The Guardian described as The Tuscany of the North. A bit more up to Wortley and then we’ll drop down Finkle Street (beware of the surface here, it’s fine with care). Then the NCN 627 (Plankgate) which should be fine in Spring, but for anyone who prefers not to take this section you are free to take the main road from Deepcar to Oughtibridge to meet up for the Upper Don Trail through Beeley Wood to finish at Hillsborough Park. 

With ascent of around 640m this route is Grade 2 (but only 27ml) at a very gentle pace to keep it inclusive. I would recommend mudguards and tyres of at least 28mm for the off tarmac cycle paths. Not technical but might be grotty if wet.

A nice flatish 48 mile ride out East to Tickhill. Treeton, climb to Ulley, Laughton, Harworth (Tom Simpson's grave for anyone wanting to see it) and Cherry Ln Gdn Centre cafe. Return past the Scarborough Arms Winged Wheel, and some fine lanes to Braithwell, then Slade Hooton and home.
Approx 77km, 645m ascent. On the flat we will push the pace up a bit to make good progress.

Out through Dore to Eyam and Tideswell. Drop down to Miller’s Dale and then steadily climb through Wormhill. A scenic descent to Peak Forest and secluded Perrydale eventually leads us to Mam Nick. Another scenic descent to Edale for lunch at Newfold Farm. Return via Hope, Hathersage and Ringinglow.
Please bring a snack as its over 30 miles to the lunch stop. Also bring lights just in case of any delay. 75km (47 miles), 1200m (4000 ft) ascent. The nature of the climbs tips this ride into Grade 3

From Millhouses we head out on an anitclockwise route to Barlow via Meadowhead, Apperknowle and Unstone to the Hackney House Cafe. Then returning via Cowley, Holmsfield, Mickley and down Twentywell Lane back to Abbeydale Road. A shortish route at 20 miles but it has its fair share of hills and some are a bit challenging, 1 am slow going up hills so will be taking a gentle pace with regrouping so please don't be put off by the hills, we will get up all of them without loosing anybody. I would politely ask, please don't use flashing lights within the group out of respect for others in the group. 20 miles (32 km), 1,388ft (408m) of ascent.

Although ridewithgps reports the ride as 57 miles with 4606ft of climbing I feel the amount of climbing is an underestimate and the ride is likely to exceed 5000ft.

This ride is at the top end of Grade 1 rides in both distance and elevation but just over a third of the ride is on off road trails along canal and old railway lines, so mostly flat. (Trains in this area did not have gradients higher than 3-4%) The off road sections are generally hard packed surfaces so will be ok for road tyres. From Meadowhead it is mainly down hill through Dronfield, Unstone to Old Whittington where we pick up the canal route through to Staveley. Then it is back on the roads to climb up to Clowne for our stop at Ashgate Coffee. After being fully revived we travel along the full 7 miles of the Clowne branch line before joining the old Midlands railway line heading north on the TPT finally returning to Sheffield centre at Castle Gate. Langsett Spotty Caf (Grade 2)

I had to have ride to the famous Spotty Cafe - the Bank view Langsett - painted with red polka dots of the 'King of Mountain jersey' for the when the 2014 Tour de France passed by. This is an entry level Grade 2 ride but taken at grade 1 pace. We head out up past Wadsley and Worrall climbing north above High Bradfield. We then have a downhill run to Broomhead Reservoir before tackling our steepest climb up to Bolsterstone then a gentle climb up Long Lane, before arriving at Langsett Reservoir and the Cafe. Plenty of seating both inside and outside. Afterwards a short sharp hill before we start the generally downhill run all the way back to Sheffield, enjoying the TPT and Don Valley Trail.
