A scenic ride at the higher end of Grade 3. Over Burbage and down to Hope followed by the climb through Edale to Mam Nick. On to Chapel-en-le-Frith we’ll probably be ready for the first cafe stop at 24 miles. Shortly after Whaley Bridge we’ll head south to climb past Windgather Rocks to Pym Chair, down to the Goyt Valley and along it to Derbyshire Bridge. Skirting Buxton we’ll pick up the Monsal trail and at 45 miles take the second cafe stop at Miller’s Dale. Leaving the trail at Great Longstone we’ll head for the final climb up Froggatt and the descent home. Please bring a snack for the long stretch of over 20 miles between the 2 cafe stops. 62 miles (100km), 5500 ft (1700m) ascent

Setting off from The Hammer and Pincers pub, Ringinglow Road at 9.30am. We will head up to Ringinglow village, then along Sheephill Road then right up the Hathersage Road, along Stony Ridge Road and then downhill to Froggatt. We will stop at The Eating House café for refreshments. We will climb home via Grindleford and Padley Gorge, this being the main climb of the ride, but will be taken at a steady pace. Approx 19 miles, 540m Ascent, so just a few metres more ascent than most Grade 1s.

Then back via Litton, Foolow, Eyam and Grindleford. 43 miles,(70kms) 4,223 feet(1290m) climbing. Grade 2+ as there's a little more climbing than normal. An exploration of the trails around Staveley including the new TPT bridge. Heading out via the Handleys to Staveley we join the TPT to Renishaw. From here we take lanes via Spinkhill and Harthill to Clowne for refreshments. Return is via the Clowne Greenway and a section of the Chesterfield Canal. There are some climbs on the on-road sections but otherwise easy terrain. Includes well-surfaced trails. The route starts off with the familiar climb to Fox House and the descent to Grindleford. From there we climb through Eyam to Windmills and on to Little Hucklow. The climb continues along Forest Lane to a peak at 1500ft before descending to the A623. A brief stretch along this busy road takes us to Peak Forest where we can turn along a picturesque narrow lane along Perry Dale. A further climb takes us past the top of the Winnats Pass to Mam Nick. A spectacular descent then takes us to Edale, where we lunch at Newbold Farm cafe. The return is through Hope, Hathersage, and Jaggers and Coggers. A route with spectacular views but is at the hard end of Grade 2

Back for a 3rd year, Wednesday 25 June, sees the return of The Longest Way, a ridiculous route from Sheffield to the world's largest fish and chip restaurant (allegedly) in Cleethorpes. a 7am start at Castlegate, a second breakfast in Bawtry, coffee and a cake in Crowle, and lunch in Brigg, before the final push to Papa's on the pier for supper. As before, you can choose to take the train back to Sheffield in the evening, or book a room and join me for a shorter leisurely ride the following day (this time to Lincoln) and a train back from there. A visit to a new café, The Old Stables Coffee Shop in Silkstone Common. We start off by climbing up the Penistone Road and Greno woods to Wortley. Small, picturesque lanes with a number of short but steep up-and-downs takes us to the edge of Silkstone common. Before we turn off to the Old Stables Café, we have a chance to contemplate the moving Huskar Pit memorial commemorating the 1838 disaster which resulted in the drowning of 26 children. The return involves a climb up to the A629, which we cross and descend to the TransPennine Trail at Oxspring. This takes us to Deepcar, where a bit of a slog along the main road takes us to Oughtibridge, where we can finish with a pleasant spin through Beeley Woods. 25 miles 1900ft ascent
